Heating- 47% of the sun's heat is absorbed into the ground and stored there. During the heating cycle, heat is pulled from the earth loop and distributed in the duct system is your house. Pipes are placed in trenches that range from 100 to 400 feet. This is often done for housed with adequate land surface. When large enough bodies of water are available, coils of pipe are placed at the bottom to utilize the geothermal energy. This most economical of the earth loops utilizes groundwater from an existing well as a geothermal energy source.

How It Works
Cooling- During the cooling cycle, the heating process is reversed. Heat from the air in your house if forced through the loop or used to heat your hot water heater.
